A Newcomers Guide to Galveston Part 1

Recently, an idea was born in the Gulf Apartment Locators office to do a 'New to Galveston' Guide--full of tips for travel, points of interest and events. I will be doing just that these next few posts(however long that might take, haha). Who knows? Maybe I will convince some of you to visit us on the Island for your next vacay!
Seriously though, what I'd really like to accomplish here is to capture the attention of anyone who might be interested in coming to Galveston to potentially plant some new roots in a new home. I want to let our, possible, future customers know from the start that Gulf Apartment Locators are committed to helping them make this transition as smoothly as possible.

Galveston Island, Texas
I really want to start off with a small history lesson. I don't know about you, but I like to know everything(interesting things only, of course) that I can know before I consider moving. Galveston is a wonderful place, so naturally, we'll have a lot to cover. Stick around for all of this 'series'--I bet I can convince you with Galveston truly is paradise! :)
Galveston offers 32 miles of relaxing beaches, superb restaurants, top resort hotels, marvelous downtown shopping, numerous antique stores, incredible art galleries, fabulous entertainment and one of the largest and well-preserved concentrations of Victorian architecture in the country.
Galveston is a small romantic island tucked deep within the heart of south Texas possessing all the charm of a small southern town and just 40 minutes south of the fourth largest city in the United States. At 32 miles long and two and a half miles wide, most residents can't remember the last time they visited the mainland and, if circumstances permitted, they would never leave.
The Island has seen its share of calamities, yet the worst natural disaster in U.S. history could not erase the tranquility of a Galveston sunset.
From soft sandy beaches to famous 19th century architecture, the island is surrounded with incredible history and unique beauty.

All year long there seems to be something to do. Next month in December, Galveston's Annual Dickens on the Strand(a holiday festival, where bobbies, Beefeaters and the Queen herself will be on hand to recreate the Victorian London of Charles Dickens. Characters from Dickens novels walk the street. Food and entertainment fill the area with sights and smells that take you back to another era-TONS OF FUN!) Of course, you get my drift here. Galveston is a constant buzzing bee with tons of activites for all ages. I highly doubt you'll leave Galveston unsatisfied.
Don't you ever feel like you need to unwind? Come spend a day on Galveston Island and I promise, you won't want to leave anytime soon.
