The crowds shuffled in hour by hour and the streets steadily filled throughout the weekend to prepare for the first big part of our 100th Mardi Gras on the island. You could feel the excitement in the air as you headed downtown and the roar of the crowd steadily rang louder with each step towards the celebration. The atmosphere was alive with fun and freedom on the strand. Like one body the crowd came together each person was a symbiotic addition to the organism. Once a part of it you couldnt help but go with the energy of the crowd, thow off all your worries, and live the freedom of Mardi Gras.
With the large amount of people here for the first weekend partly due to the headlining band the Neon Trees, I can only imagine that with the addition of the second weekend this year will be a great success for business here on the island. A great boost the island both needs and deserves for it's perseverance through the tough times all of us have been going through. So everyone be sure to come out to weekend two which will surely be one of the funnest and most successful Mardi Gras celebrations in many years. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
